About the Band
Cherry Haze
Born and raised in Queens, Cherry Haze is a pop-rock band built on years of friendship and a shared love for the big, catchy sounds of 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, and Maroon 5.
The band’s roots go back to middle school, where Rafael and Ryan first met playing trumpet in the school orchestra. They eventually swapped the trumpets for guitars, jamming on and off for years before deciding to get serious and form a band in 2023. A year later, they met Jason at Queens College. He was walking past a practice room with a friend and stopped to introduce himself. Once the guys realized that aside from his flute talents he was also a great bass player, they started jamming and things just clicked. He’s been the bass player for Cherry Haze ever since.
Now, the three of them are focused on writing new music and playing shows across da wurld. They’re just three guys...
P.S. we need a drummer
Rafael
Vocal/Guitarist
He started at the bottom: specifically, under his sister’s bed, where he found the dusty guitar she’d given up on. His restless curiosity kicked in, and he spent his nights on YouTube teaching himself to play.
Now as a driving force in Cherry Haze, he blends a self-taught spirit with his love for music. Currently on a tactical retreat from the corporate grind, he spends his time training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, bringing that same "hit-hard" discipline from the mats to the band’s pop-rock sound.
Ryan
Vocal/Guitarist
When he's not working one of his three jobs, he spends his days singing, practicing guitar, and honing in on his production skills. He lives sweats and breathes music. In fact he's producing as he's typing this bio out.
Ryan is the songwriter and producer of the band's single "In Circles" (which you should go stream right now). When he isn't working on music, he likes to spend his time with friends, cleaning, or building/fixing some random a** thing.
He's just the workaholic and said to be sass master of the band.
Jason
Bassist
Born and raised in Queens, Jason Altre studied classical music before settling as the bassist for Cherry Haze. Once a solo bedroom producer of electronic music, he now lends his creative efforts towards the band. In addition to the songs of teenage love and heartbreak that characterize the band's sound, Jason enjoys a multitude of genres, with his interests ranging from jazz to hyperpop.
